R3d propane dial
Does anyone know of any devices, or ways to monitor the propane level in a tank? They are usually gallons. Not off hand, sorry What would you want to monitor? Right now I have to go out to the tank and check the gauge.
I want to monitor it through ST image. Then rig up some ST-compatible input. I have the same need. I read about a device that thumped a tank and used its natural harmonics to determine the amount of material inside. However, I have no clue where I saw that.A Better Propane Gauge for Your RV
Maybe it will ring a bell with someone. Yep that is what I was thinking about. Now has anyone used it with a gallon propane tank. It needs to work outside and my tank is buried with only the gauge and fill nozzle above ground. If so, is it actually buried with soil pressing against the sides of the tank or is it standing free in a pit and roofed over?
If it is actually buried with soil against the sides, I suspect this would rule out this type of sensor. Also, take note of the restrictions re: temperature and battery life. How cold does it get where you are? I would still give it a try as long as I can connect it directly to metal. There must be some type of calibration process?? I wold think they need to be rated for that to even attach it to a barbecue tank.
I am working on the same thing, except my tank gauge is Rochester R3D ready. Then what we would need is a ST sensor that would read it ie 0 ohm empty to 90 ohm full Just like a car fuel gauge. Now I am thinking about installing a marine type gauge in the house that is hardwired to the propane tank sensor.
This gauge has an alarm out that can be preset.
Just have to find a way to connect the alarm out to ST, then I can at least get alerts when the tank is too low. Everything could be powered off of the 24v lead on my thermostat. Still working on it…It would just be better if I had a Z-wave sensor that could measure ohm drop and correlate that to level measurement. Would you be interested in a ZigBee device that could read 0 to 90 ohms and report the value over the analog cluster?Dials are utilized on stationary applications where direct reading plus an electrical signal to a remote fuel level monitor may be required.
Once installed, the module can provide ratiometric voltage output proportional to the liquid volume inside the tank. Previous designs of magnetically driven dials that produce an electrical output signal had the disadvantages inherent in using variable resistors with a wiper arm contact.
The magnetic connection of the Hall Effect sensor is more reliable than systems that depend on the sliding contact of variable resistor devices. Hall Effect is a solid state technology with no moving contacts. It counts on the fact that a magnet bends the path of electrons moving through a semiconductor. The bending of the electrons can be detected and converted into an electrical signal. With remote monitoring of tank levels, distributors of LP gas will be able to more efficiently plan deliveries to various consumers.

This evolution includes TwinSite senders with the reliability and accuracy of ceramic resistance elements; storage tank dials with variable voltage signal outputs for affordable remote monitoring; the introduction of a radically new fork lift cylinder gauge and RV-ASME tank gauge that improve quality.
The OPD valve gauge shows actual liquid level and not pressure like other brands. It is easy to read, affordable and accurate.
The gauge is viewable from top, end and side. With the add-on remote transmitter and monitor, cylinders can be placed out of site and still know their level of fuel. Web site: www. Your behavior appears to be a little unusual. Please verify that you are not a bot. July 1, By LP Gas.

There has been a need for a more reliable and simplified design for these LP gas liquid-level gauges that would provide an electrical output related to the liquid level in the vessel. The question is what the sensor is. I think allanhurst might be on the right track with sensing a magnetic field. I wonder whether the person filling the tank uses the gauge? If so they would not like it if you covered it up but it should be possible to make something that can be easily removed before they show up to fill the tank.
Quote from: pert on Nov 02,am. Sorry for messing up the links. However the video of the old guy with the hammer is also useful. He demonstrates that the gas dial is free spinning using a hand held magnet. His comments about banging the tank might also be relevant, maybe it is only his tank but perhaps the float mechanisms are prone to sticking. Regarding using the gauge to fill the tank I think it is used.
The gauge reading does not need to be very accurate. So, what sensor could be used to detect the orientation of the rotating bar magnet in the tank? I've noticed the gauge on my old tank does change a bit if I knock on it but I did wince to see him banging on the gauge so hard. I've never seen mine drop down a long distance though, even if I hadn't checked it in a long time so I don't think the reading would be way off without the impact. I was thinking the same about them using the gauge to approximate how much they should put in the tank.
I always tell them to fill mine all the way up but even though it was completely empty last time they only put around gallons in the gallon tank. If they filled the tank full and the ambient temperature rose the liquid would expand and rupture the tank. By leaving a gas space when the temperature rises the gas pressure increases but its volume remains the same.
There is another video that says if you let your tank go empty it is supposed to be inspected, by an official inspector, before being refilled.
I can't think why that would be.Siaran tran 7 hilang

Previous 1 2 template Next. I was finally able to aquire a hall-effect sensor for my gal propane tank. This was no easy task! I talked to the manufacture, manufacture rep, wireless equipment company, and finally the supplier that they use to get the actually sensor from. The sensor has what is referred to as a "radiometric" output. It has a 5vdc input and the output values are proportional to the tank level percentage. So what I need to do is: Generate a 5v signal only for a few seconds on a preset "tank check" interval.
I am thinking every 30min, but this could be a variable that changes. I want to make sure I have some type of resistor or something in place to make sure I don't overload the input current limit of 4. I then need to have an input read the voltage from the output of the sensor and corrolate that to a percentage. I would like to have this voltage level and percentage show up as two seperate status items in homeseer. Tags: None. Michael McSharry.
